The "Minami Uonuma City Snow Festival" was named after the birth of Minami Uonuma City in 17 when the "Muikamachi Snow Festival" started with the start of making snow sculptures in the turmoil after the end of the war. It was renamed to "Minami Uonuma City Snow Festival" and is an important local event with a long history.
Events using snow, such as the snow stage show and Honyara Cave, are attractive and attract many tourists from inside and outside the prefecture every year.
This year, due to the record warm winter, snow-related events are being canceled or reduced not only in Niigata prefecture but also in various places in the future.It is thought that this will have a serious impact on the local economy.
