Mt. Kyogatake

Mt. Kyogatake is a mountain at an altitude of 1625m, at the border between Katsuyama and Ono, Fukui Prefecture. It is located in the special area of ​​Hakusan National Park, in the dinosaur valley, Katsu Katsuyama Geopark, and Okoshi Kogen Prefectural Nature Park. It is selected as Japan's three hundred famous mountains. The origin of Yamana is said to have been the result of burying the asi of the rolled up winding at the top of the mountain when the priests of Hiraizumi-dera, the base of the Hakusan faith in 1574 (Tensho 2), were burned down by the soldiers of Ichimoku. Another theory is said to be derived from the fact that it was buried in Kimono to pray for the rise of Hiraizumi Temple. It has been regarded as a sacred place for a long time, and in 1997 years it is thought that a long cylinder with the inscription of Onaga 2 was discovered from the summit, and it is thought from the inscription that it was dedicated to . Mt. Kyogatake had been engaged in volcanic activity about 140 to 70 10,000 years ago, and the lava that flowed out at that time gave birth to the Roro Shishi plateau at the foot of the mountain. Even now, craters of remnants of the eruption are seen just below the summit, and in the spring of a flat wetland called "Ikeno Osawa", there is a waterhole. There is a crater wall on the south slope of the headwaters of the Tang Valley of the Kuzuryu River branch, and the crater wall can also be seen from the foot of Ono City in the southwest. The lava is exposed on a part of the mountain trail on the Hogetsu ridge, there is a sharp peak of lava called "cow rock" and there is a mountain trail that winds on the south side. There are mountain trails from each direction. The mountaineering port is located in Karakuya in the Rokuro Shiba Kogen and the wide area backbone forest road Hoonji Line. There are other vertical roads from Hohenji-yama and Akatsuki-yama. The surrounding area is a heavy snowfall area, and it is climbed as mountain skis and spring mountains during the snowfall season in spring. In spring, on the mountain trail after snow melting, flowers such as katakuri and kikuzakiichige can be seen, and in early summer you can see flowers such as shiny and so on. From the vicinity of the summit, you can see Mt. Hakusan, Mt. Akatsuki, Mt. Dainagayama, Mt. Hoonji, Mt. Arashimadake etc. It also overlooks the Ono city area and the Katsuyama city area and the Japan Sea.
