Mt. Tomuraushiyama

Mt. Tomuraushiyama (Tomuraushiyama, Tomuraushiyama) is a mountain with an altitude of 2141m in the southern part of the Mt. Taisetsuzan system that rises on the border between Biei-cho in the Kamikawa jurisdiction and Shintoku-cho in the Tokachi jurisdiction in central Hokkaido. It is called "Okuzashiki of heavy snow".Locally, it has long been worshiped as "Kamui Mintara" (a garden where the gods play).It has been selected as one of Japan's 30 Famous Mountains. Tomuraushi", which is a common abbreviation for place names originating in the Ainu language.Because it is a deep mountain, the vast nature such as flower fields and lakes remains undisturbed.The upper part of the mountain is the high pine belt, which is the limit of the forest, and there are places where alpine plants are clustered with ponds and swamps.On the lava plateau on the north side of the hillside, there is an area called "rock garden" where large rocks are piled up, and it is a habitat for pikas.The north side of the rock garden is also called the "Japanese garden", which is dotted with rocks, and you can see alpine plants such as geum pentapetalum and Phyllodoce cabbage.Just below the summit, there is Kitanuma on the north side and Nanuma on the southwest side, and alpine plants such as Cassiope lycoides, Ezokozakura, and Dicentra peregrina can be seen.If you go south from Nanuma, you will find an area called "Tomuraushi Park" where you can see alpine plants such as Ezonohakusanichige.The mountain area was designated as a special protection area in Mt. Taisetsuzan National Park in 5 (Showa XNUMX).
